Jordy International – Bespoke Signage
Back on the 5th of May we received a telephone call from a Lady in America telling us that her boss was in Blackpool that day and he would be calling in to see us regarding some bespoke signage that he required for the upcoming International Dance Festival which is held at the Winter Gardens Blackpool every year.
Later that morning a very nice man turned up called Chris Stephenson, Chris is the owner of one of the biggest Dance companies in the U.S, Jordy International. He came to us with a vision of what he wanted for his stand. Stands at exhibitions can be 3m x 2m, sometimes bigger, sometimes smaller. Not Chris’s, he was having the entire Spanish Hall within the Winter Gardens which for anyone who knows it is a big old grand room, which meant a big grand entrance and bespoke signage was required.
Over the next week we went to site to take detailed measurements and look at how we could produce what Chris was looking for, with the minor problem of not being able to use any fixings as the Winter Gardens is a listed building, so everything had to be free standing and self supporting whilst at the same time being 100% safe for the many thousands of people who would pass under it throughout the festival, we do like a challenge.
Following artwork approval and structural discussions with our fitters we started production of the bespoke signage and the timber sub frame w/c 11th May. The sign itself was different to the signs we usually produce. We created two large square pillars that we dressed with black foamex, these then had a stand off crest applied. The overhead fascia sign was wrapped in Black Faux Leather fabric and then had the JORDY lettering produced on stand off locators and made out of a mix of profile cut black foamex with profile cut brushed stainless steel applied to face at a slightly smaller size, this was certainly a one off and definitely Bespoke!!
The finished product looked stunning and Chris was receiving great comments on it for the duration of the festival. Although it looks simple the internal structure is what made this bespoke signage possible and without our fitters joinery and woodwork experience this job would have been a struggle.
The day after the festival finished we went to site, removed everything, packed it up safely and have stored ready for use at the same event next year. We like to think we are easy to deal with and know what our customer wants, even when they are half way around the world we will do our best to achieve and surpass your expectations.
